Dear Emmalyn: One Month

One month.  You are already one month old.  How in the world did that happen?  Where did time go?  It feels like just yesterday we were holding you in the hospital and now you are outgrowing your newborn clothes!  You already weigh just about 10 pounds and are 22 inches long!  You are definitely a growing, healthy little girl.  It is so exciting watching you grow but also sad that it is going so quickly.  I wish time would slow down just a little bit.  I know you are only going to be this tiny for a short time and I really just want it to last forever!

Your daddy and me have done a lot of adjusting in the last month.  You went from being a good sleeper, to a terrible sleeper, and lately a GREAT sleeper!  Thanks for that!  I think we are all finally getting used to each other and getting into a routine.

It is so fun to watch you and see all the little milestones you are already hitting.  Here are some of our favorites from this month!

• You really love to stare and study things now, especially mine and daddy's faces.  You also really love looking at lights, specifically Christmas lights.  (And for some weird reason..white walls)
• You also really love to be held.  You are not usually too content just being left alone.  You like attention!  You do like your snoopy seat though.  I think because it vibrates.  
• You also love the car.  The car is like magic.  You fall asleep instantly when we put you in!  
• Recently we have found that you also love the sound of rain.  We have a rain white noise app on mommy's phone and it puts you to sleep almost instantly.  It is also like magic.  
• You are starting to coo more and it is so cute.  
• We love watching all the faces that you make.  You have some really great ones!  We especially like the ones you make when you are trying to go potty ;)  You are even starting to smile!!
• You are such an active baby too.  Always wiggling and on the move.  I think you will crawl early and quickly!
• Daddy loves to call you "baby girl".  It is really cute.  I'm pretty sure he is madly in love with you.
• Everybody who sees you loves you.  We get compliments on how beautiful you are every time we go out!
• You have also started showing that you know mine and daddy's voices.  You almost always turn towards us when we speak.
• Your eyes have gotten to be so pretty as well.  They are a gorgeous blue color.  We can't wait to see what they look like in the future!
• We are also still debating what color your hair will end up being.  I think it will be sandy blonde like mine was, but we will see.

We love you so much baby girl!  You are the greatest thing that has ever happened to us!  You have made us complete!
